Cameras + Lenses
Here is a list of what I use, and more photography essentials depending on your needs and photography style, from cameras to accessories!
โ Sony Alpha 7C Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera
My mirrorless camera of choice – small and lightweight for travel, good enough for my budget and high quality!
โ Sony – FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS Standard Zoom Lens
This is the lens of choice for me for the Sony Alpha Mirrorless, because a standard zoom is the best if you’re going to have just one, or as a staple lens!
โ Canon 6D (DSLR)
This is the camera I currently own and use. It has wifi connectivity, is a full-frame camera and does an overall fabulous job.
โ Canon EF 16-35mm Wide-Angle Zoom Lens
This is my current lens, which I chose because I absolutely love taking wide-angle photos, but I also don’t want to sacrifice zoom capability. This would be great to add to a set with a standard zoom lens, too.
Tip: Adorama is one of my favorite places to find used cameras and gear for less!

โ GoPro HERO10 Black Accessory Bundle
I’ve been using this on my latest trip & it’s so perfect – great for water activities as well as easy video and photos, not as cumbersome as my camera with better quality than my iPhone! The videos are SO smooth!
โ HSU Floating Hand Grip Waterproof Monopod Compatible with GoPro
I wasn’t wanting to keep spending money, and I found this. After using it multiple times snorkeling in French Polynesia, I can say it’s definitely high-quality!
โ DJI Mini 4 Pro Drone
This drone is one of the best for travel because it doesn’t weigh as much as others and it can fold to fit in a camera bag.
โ Fujifilm instax Mini 9 Instant Camera
The Fujifilm instax Mini 9 Instant Camera with Film Twin Pack Bundle is the best budget instant camera for travel (it’s small so it’s easy to pack)! The film is also cheaper.
Photography Accessories
โ 4-In-One Travel Tripod
This amazing tripod works with both cameras and smartphones, plus doubles as a selfie stick, monopod and as trekking poles! It’s made with durable and lightweight (2.8 lbs.) aluminum alloy, and it’s super affordable.
โ Peak Design Hiking Camera Clip
This is my favorite way for carrying a camera while hiking & backpacking (it’s better than a traditional strap)!
โ Waterproof Housing for GoPro
This Waterproof Housing for GoPro is needed for deep-water adventures of over 10m, aka scuba diving. Find the housing that fits your specific GoPro model.
โ GoPro 3-Way 2.0 Mount
Versatile mount that you can use for selfies, stabilization & more.
โ Filters
Filters, including UV & Circular Polarizers, help you get better photos, especially of water reflections and the bottom of clear water. Just make sure to get the right size to fit your lens!
โ Remote Shutter (this one works with Canon cameras)
A remote shutter helps you take long-exposure photos at night and sunrise/sunset.
โ Memory Card (for DSLR/Mirrorless Cameras)
SanDisk Extreme Pro memory cards are a must. They prevent many issues with photography and video that happen with lower quality memory cards.
โ SanDisk Extreme MicroSDXC Memory Card with Adapter
Some cameras, like action cameras take MicroSD cards like this one!
โ Memory Card Reader
A memory card reader is necessary when your camera doesn’t transfer photos without it, and for when you choose to transfer them this way – a lot of newer computers don’t have USB ports or memory card readers (mine doesn’t and I use one of these)!
โ Memory Card Travel & Storage Box
This Memory Card Carrying Box is aluminum and shock resistant, and has 8 spots for memory cards (including microSD cards)!
โ Portable External Hard Drive
Backing up your photos is ULTRA important! Seagate is one of the best brands for these (and what I use), and they hold up well – plus, this one is 2TB so it’ll last awhile!
โ Over-Under Water Dome (this one works with GoPro)
This is great for capturing the perfect half-over, half-under shots, plus it’s a secure underwater housing option for GoPros for diving, snorkeling, surfing and more!
Photography Accessories for Smartphones
โ BEASTEK Waterproof iPhone Case
I just ordered this after seeing it in action in Jordan, and asked for the info – so it definitely works well!
โ Remote shutter (2-pack) for smartphones
This is a great option for a remote shutter to use with your smartphone so you can take pictures of yourself from a distance, as well as nighttime photos!
โ Portable Chargers/Power Banks
Portable chargers and power banks for your smartphone are a travel necessity for when all else fails, or you just need to charge your phone! This one is the lightest weight for traveling, plus it’s highly rated by experts!
My Favorite Camera Bags
โ My Waterproof Camera Case Insert Bag
My new obsession: it’s water-resistant, and it fits into any backpack or bag! I use this to switch between my carry-on backpack and day pack.
โ Best Budget Camera Travel Bag
This BAGSMART Vintage Padded Camera Shoulder Bag is the perfect carrying case for travel! It’s waterproof, and has pockets for accessories – plus, you can remove the strap and use it as an insert!
โ Best Waterproof Hiking Backpack
The Peak Design Everyday V2 20L waterproof hiking backpack will fit your camera and other things, and it’s top-rated by reviewers and companies alike!
โ Best Budget Waterproof Camera Backpack
The BAGSMART DSLR Camera Bag Backpack is waterproof, plus comes with Anti-Theft, 15 Inch Laptop Compartment & Tripod Holder! Plus, you can choose your color!
Photo Editing Software
Luminar Neo: This is great for beginners and intermediate users, plus it works as an add-on extension for Lightroom & Photoshop (I use all three of these programs)! You can do all the same things, removing backgrounds is a breeze and they have filters and presets. There’s also an app so you can edit photos from your smartphone on the go. Use code MUKI10 for 10% off!
