What to Consider for the Best Boston Photography Spots
👉 Time of year. Boston has summer highs up to the low 80s°F, but winters are cold and snowy. For photography, consider what kinds of photos you want, or if you’re more concerned about the weather. Boston is one of the best places in the US for photos of Fall leaves, as well as for photos of snow-covered historic sites. It’s also beautiful in the summer, so you really can’t go wrong here – just pack accordingly for the weather!
👉 Type of Lens needed. Boston has a lot of photo ops that a wide angle, or telephoto lens, could be used for; consider what kind of photos you want to bring the right equipment! If you’re whale-watching, you’ll want a telephoto lens; if you’re looking to get cityscapes and landscapes, bring the wide angle.
👉 Weather protection. Make sure your camera has weather-sealing, as well as your lens. However, if you’re going to be taking photos in or on the water, when it’s snowing or raining, make sure to have more than that, including a weather-proof bag for carrying equipment like this one:

And a rain cover sleeve like this one:

For outdoor photography in the sun, it’s also a good idea to bring these UV Protection Lens Filters, which protect lens and cameras from the sun, like sunscreen!
All In All: Best Boston Photography Spots
Boston is a city of firsts in the US: first public park, first subway system, and even the oldest continuously operating restaurant! It makes sense – it’s one of the oldest cities in the US, founded in 1630 and a center of the events of the American Revolution.
Boston’s key draw is likely its history, but it’s the people, who have restored, maintained, and added to Boston’s charm, that allows it to have so many great options for all kinds of photography!
