“I do freelance sports photography for the local newspaper, and I was using a Nikon D750, and it worked pretty well. It worked well in low light, it shot 6.5 fps and it is a 24 megapixel camera. But, I knew that I could do better. For sports I needed a lot of fps and the shots focus had to be crisp. I use the Nikon 300mm f/2.8 super prime most of the time for outdoor events. The picture of the goalkeeper diving for the ball was taken from the other end of the field. I’ll tell you, at 9 fps (I have a grip on it with the bigger battery) and 46 megapixels, my shots have gotten so much better. I shoot softball and baseball through cyclone fencing, and you can’t even tell. I think that I don’t have to push the ISO up as far on those evening soccer games. I have done a little bit of portrait work and some landscape shots with this camera and it can put your talents to the test. I would recommend using a tripod when you can. With that many megapixels, you have to be careful if you are shooting at lower speeds…all of your little movement mistakes show up. Just be sure to have a big enough XQD card in this camera, because you are going to be taking a lot of pictures (7 fps out of the box). Also, you have a lot more keepers with this camera because the focussing system is pretty darn good (same as the D5). Oh, and the silent shooting, is really silent….like no sound silent.
So, whatever your style of photography is, sports, landscapes, portrait, product, wildlife, etc., you will probably really enjoy this camera. Good luck.”

“I have owned the X1D and then the X1DII since their inception. I also own a 907x and these are the best cameras I have ever owned. In fact I just sold off my Leica, Canon and Sony cameras. These Hasselblad cameras have been nothing but reliable. The low light bests any Sony, even the A7SIII. The dynamic range tops all other full frame cameras I have shot with, ever. I did try a couple of the Fuji’s but they are in no way built to the same standard as the Hasselblad and for me not as enjoyable to use. They may be more versatile, yes, but for a “slow it down” type of shooting experience I have found no better than these cameras from Hasselblad. Not only have I taken the most beautiful photos I have in my room 30 years of image making but I have had the most fun doing it. I have reviewed cameras for 14 years. I have had them all in my hands. Others have more features and gimmicks (things not needed to take a great photo, rather to make it easy and make us lazy) but if you want a pure photo taking machine look no further. It’s expensive, yes. So are the new cameras from all manufacturers today. What you get with the X1DII is a quality product, pride of ownership, best in class color and IQ, best low light capabilities out there at this time and beautiful lenses. You can also adapt Leica M lenses to this camera and most of them perform better than they do on a Leica giving a true medium format look. Yes, this is a slow camera to auto focus but it is not about speed or action. It’s about art. I have never owned anything like it (or the 907x) in all of my years. The new Leica M11 that will arrive soon with its very high MP full frame sensor will not be able to compete with this camera in IQ. The X1DII for me is as good as it gets for experience, usability, color and IQ in 2021. The 907x was my 2020 camera of the year. For 2021 I have not found one camera that moved me enough to even pick one for that honor. This is a camera for the artist, for the passionate photographer, for the one who wants to slow down and take their time. It’s not for those who want to shoot 20FPS or have eye af or 8k video. It’s old school in many ways but modern as it gets in others. Hasselblad did good. WELL worth the cost in today’s world if you care about quality, enjoyment and art.”

“I bought this camera knowing that this might be the last few DSLR cameras that Canon will ever make. DSLR’s have some advantages over mirrorless. The sensor is protected by the mirror from dust and contact with whatever is outside when you remove or change lenses. With DSLR’s, you can see through the lens without turning on the power. True, DSLR’s are bulkier and heavier than the newest Canon mirrorless, but some pros prefer the beefier construction. But getting back to the 5D Mark IV, it’s a professional-level camera. The only thing I do not like is the LCD monitor. I wish they had used the fold-out and flippable monitor that the 6D mark II has. The monitor on the 5D Mark IV is exposed. It does not angle up or down. It stays put. I can live with that, but i wish i did not have to. So what I did was put a glass screen protector on it. Done. This camera is a joy to work with. Ergonomics is perfect and I have small hands. Large handed people do not complain with this camera. You can shoot with just your right hand if the lens on it is light enough. So I think I’ve told you the reasons why I chose this camera.
